Several phone calls with someone who quit shortly thereafter. I was asked to shadow someone for a day. I took off work and found coverage at my current office, which wasn't easy. Several weeks passed and I heard nothing so inquired. Was told it would be a few more weeks as others were shadowing and interviewing. Several more weeks passed and I inquired. A week passed and I received an email that the company "didn't have its ducks in a row" so had decided not to hire. I never had a formal interview. But I did miss a day of work for nothing. Also, I received another email from a different employee asking me if I was still interested in applying for the job, long after I had already applied and shadowed.
