This was one of the most comical interview processes I've ever experienced. The whole process took about five weeks due to schedules not aligning. Which was made more difficult than needed as the recruiter never asked for my availability. The first call with the recruiter was to verify my full name—not a joke. I was told I would meet with the hiring manager next. Two weeks passed without a word, then a random calendar invite to meet with the hiring manager. The time the recruiter put on my calendar did not work, so we had to find a time that did (no upfront ask for availability). I had a good conversation with the hiring manager. And felt it may be a good place to work, even though the pay was roughly $60k less than what I've made over the past 8 years. After this, there were almost two more weeks with no communication. Then, there was another random calendar invite with four people for an hour-long interview. Again, schedules didn't align, so I went back and forth with the recruiter to find the time that did (again, there was no upfront ask for availability). Once on the call, the interviewers introduced themselves, and they all mentioned how excited they were to have me walk them through my presentation. The only problem, the recruiter never told me there was a presentation so I did not have one prepared. So I was asked to wing it. Which I did to the best of my ability, but it doesn't look good for the interviewer not to have a prepared presentation for a group of people only prepared to have you walk them through one. A few days later, I got a rejection email, not a phone call. Not really surprised. The people I interviewed with were all quite lovely. However, the recruiter was possibly the worst recruiter I've ever dealt with. They never asked for availability, told me who I was interviewing with, or told me what stage of the interview I was in. They also forgot to tell me I needed to have a presentation for the interview.
