      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Asana nel mese di giu 2019

      Colloquio

I applied through LinkedIn, then received a follow up email to schedule a phone call the next day. I had the phone interview, which was pleasant and quick. Then, the recruiter set up a 1-on-1 interview with a senior employee in SF. This interviewer was also very friendly, the conversation was interesting, and I learned a lot more about the role. I then was given 48 hours to complete a writing test; I was told that it looked good, and I’d be moving to the next round of panel interviews. This was all very timely and professional. I live in Dublin but had been abroad in the US to deal with some family stuff (which I informed them of ahead of time and was told it was not an issue), so my “onsite” interviews were all through Google Hangouts. I had four hours of interviews, with various Asana teams/individuals. Everyone I spoke to was very kind and helpful overall. My experience was extremely positive up until the completion of the final interview. I was incredibly excited about the job and the company. I waited one week to follow up with the recruiter and then heard nothing. That same day, the job was posted to LinkedIn again, only to be removed a few days later. I assumed that they’d gone with another candidate at that point; it was certainly understandable, but I still wanted to hear some kind of response as I’d invested so much time and hope in the process. I followed up again a week after that and received no response. I did, however, receive this bizarre (automated?) request for feedback form the same day from someone I’d never spoken to before. I replied to this email, stating that I’d love to provide feedback regarding my interview experience, but I still had not received any response to my multiple follow ups about the job. A day later, I miraculously got an email from the recruiter saying that they were not moving forward with me. It was quite impersonal and the recruiter said that they’d enjoyed meeting me in person (which they did not). The recruiter also volunteered to provide feedback. I responded quickly that I’d love to receive feedback as I will be applying to similar roles at other companies. Fast forward to a month later, after multiple follow ups, and the recruiter has yet to respond or provide feedback. Honestly, I think the one email the recruiter had sent was a canned, copy-paste thing. It was very sloppy punctuation on an otherwise solid experience. Overall, I’m honestly just incredibly disappointed in Asana, and this whole experience will certainly color how I think of the company. I was so drawn to Asana because they seemingly pride themselves on caring, humanistic practices. Previously, they had seemed like this beacon of light and compassion in a very impersonal and sometimes harsh world. Now, my opinion of the company has certainly changed. When a candidate provides 10+ hours of their time through several phases of interviews and tasks, it is simply common courtesy to keep your candidates in the loop (regardless of your decision to move forward in the hiring process). This negative, hurtful practice of interviewer ghosting seems to be more and more prevalent in the job hunting experience, but it was the last thing I would have expected from Asana. Note to Asana: You should follow up with all candidates in a timely manner and always keep in mind that this kind of job can be incredibly important (if not potentially life-changing) to a candidate. Updates or feedback may seem inconsequential to a hiring manager, but you must keep in mind that we are human beings who are working hard and living full, busy lives. We have chosen to interview with your company and give you our time; you should at least treat us with basic respect. Additionally, it is quite unprofessional to offer feedback but never follow through on providing it. I looked at the other Asana interview stories from the past six months, and this actually appears to be a trend (particularly in Dublin). The responses claim that you will strive to do better, but it doesn’t appear to be happening; it’s time to look to a higher standard.
