I applied to the Product Design team through a referral. I got an initial phone call with a recruiter. I thought that our call went well and it was indicated that I'd move onto the next round, but I received an email rejection later that week. The recruiter told me that the interview process would go as follows:
Recruiter call -> portfolio review w/ hiring manager -> take-home exercise -> on-site including a presentation to a panel
I know that companies want to avoid bad hires, but this is frankly a ridiculous interview process. If you want me to do a take-home exercise, don't require a presentation (or vice versa). It doesn't seem very respectful of candidates' time.

Received an internal referral. Got contacted by recruiter several weeks later when they already had an offer out to a candidate. Call went great and was told if the candidate declined, I'd talk with the hiring manager. Was told I'd receive an update and was ghosted instead. Bad form especially from an internal referral.
