Recruiter Screen, Hiring Manager Call, then “onsite” with 4 rounds. Values interview, portfolio presentation, craft interviews. Recruiter provided questions that could be asked beforehand. Honestly thought they all went well so kind blindsided by the rejection. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Was contacted by a recruiter and connected with the hiring manager who passed me on to do an onsite. Extremely impersonal and "cattle call" type of interview process. The people conducting interviews seem very, very comfortable in their cushy jobs at Atlassian. If every review mentions "work life balance" and the "people" as being the best part of the job, it's a sign that things move at a glacial pace and you will be doing very little of the actual work you were hired to do. Demographically speaking, almost every interviewer was the same race and gender. So I wouldn't be surprised if there is hiring bias present. When I asked about DEI during the values portion of the onsite, the interviewer looked bewildered and like he had never heard that term before. I wouldn't be surprised if they are incentivized to push as many bodies through the hiring process as possible. Extremely time consuming interview process and at no point did it ever seem like anyone was actually listening to my answers so I was surprised that I kept being moved forward. Interviewers in my role were snobbish and awkward.

Recruitment screener, interview with the hiring manager, Atlassian Values interview, Design challenge session, then a portfolio review. The HR follows up with a call after most of these interviews. It was quite lengthy and spread across many weeks.
