I applied online for the position, and got a response from an internal recruiter a few days later. He said he was "very impressed" with my resume. We went through some basic questions about my experience, and current role. He asked me to complete a coding exercise in about 2 days.
I completed it, and was given an opportunity to interview with the manager for the role, who was based in another city. We did a video meeting, and I was invited to do a local onsite interview with the team.
My interview was midweek. I interviewed with 8 people total, some individually, some in pairs. Everyone was nice, and thoughtful. Most of the interview questions were good. One pair seemed liked they'd just found a website of interview questions and were asking those.
My last interview was again with the manager of the team, who told me that they would speak with the team, and I should hear back from the recruiter that Friday or Monday. I got no contact. I wrote the recruiter on the following Tuesday, and the Manager on the following Thursday. I didn't receive any communication for a full week after I was told that I would.
When that email came, telling me that they were not interested in continuing with me, the recruiter got my name wrong. Mistakes happen , but paired with the lack of communication for a full week it came off as very inconsiderate.
Excepting the communication issue at the end, everyone was professional, and the experience was an overall good one.
