I applied online. The CTO reached out via email and we setup a call. He didn't call at the set time but when I emailed, he responded immediately saying he just got home from a trip and that I could call him now. I called. The interview was pretty informal. He asked me some questions and then I asked him some questions. It seemed as if he wasn't sure what to ask outside of a few standard questions. I wanted to know about the financial backing since it's a startup. I thought it went well enough, though he seemed monotone. He said at the end that he would be in touch with me about next steps. I took that as a good thing but then no one ever reached out. They reposted the job a month later under a new title. I felt lied to and wished he or someone else had just told me that I wasn't a good fit. Despite this, I reached out via email once more to try to be helpful and offer to hook him up with someone who I thought would be a good fit (since I wasn't), but my gesture was completely ignored. Overall, I was not happy with how they treated me. I think I dodged a bullet. Such a shame as the position and company sounded so interesting.
