Phone and face to face with the manager who is pregnant with twins. Best interview ever! Her name escapes me but she was kind and extremely generous with her time. She was also quite honest with the salary structure and what I could expect, as I moved up the ladder. Our interview started by discussing the position and all that it entails. What I was interested in was discussing whether it would be helpful to the job if I got my real estate license. And we started discussing becoming a real estate agent and several different positions I could get outside of Avalonbay communities if I decided to go that route. We talked about my interests and different components of a job that we’re important to me. Unfortunately I decided that becoming a leasing agent and going up the ladder here - which totally is a viable for people interested in working at Avalonbay, it just wasn’t for me. I really, really wish it was as it would have been amazing to work with this woman. I would have learned so much and would have all of the help, support, and direction I needed to become very successful. So I totally more than recommend working here. I thank the woman I met with, you’re awesome! Even though we both recognized that this was probably not a fit, you still continued with our meeting to answer all of my questions. Thank you, it’s much appreciated! On a side note, if this is how she treated me, and how much care and time she gave to me, I can only imagine how great she treats her employees and how wonderful she is to the tenants at Avalonbay Communities. My guess is that she treats them as an extension of her own family.my best to you, your family, and your new twins!
