      Colloquio

1)Initial phone screen, though the recruiter did not really reveal her name. We went over the position I applied for. 2)In-person interview with two people: Department Manager met me and walked me over to to meet the Hiring Manager in the adjacent building... but not before she made a cynical comment about my car (She must have not known it was mine, but I thought it was rude, it's nothing unusual just an ordinary car..) We proceeded into the adjacent building and we interviewed for about an hour. I was asked a scripted set of questions read off a piece of paper split into 10 part questions, a few of the questions sounded familiar from the others. Mostly the typical stuff you hear(name a time you and a co-worker didn't agree, what would you do when you need to do this and couldn't: etc...). The questions weren't hard to answer, but were generic and redundant. After the interview questions we went over the position again: It was at this point I was told I wasn't actually interviewing for the Account Specialist Position III role, it was for a lesser role the Account Specialist position. It really felt like "bait and switch," and completely caught me off-guard. I left feeling dumb-founded and ignorant, and the Hiring Panel must have also thought I was dumb and did not read the Job Description...but it was really on the company for not more clearly letting me know before-hand. I spoke with the Hiring and Department Manager afterwards got the typical "We'll get back to you in a couple of weeks." I emailed the Hiring Manager a couple of weeks later, he said he would have a decision by the end of the month and would be getting back to me. He never did, at the end of the month and I received and automated 2 weeks past the turn of the month email stating " you didn't get the job"...of course this was for the Account Specialist III position, so it's hard to tell if it was the one I interviewed for. I felt like I was really strung along in the along in the decision making process. I wish companies would just be more forthcoming, but this is Corporations can be like. I really liked the Hiring Manager, but the vibe I got a vibe from the Department manager almost immediately that she did not like me(which was strange, I think I tend to do well in interviews)...she must have been having a bad day or week, but she didn't very warm towards me. Not to worry, I got hired elsewhere and they pursued to offer to me a position immediately. Aviall might be okay, but since it's such a large company I got the vibe things are very compartmentalized and communication may be stagnant internally and externally...henceforth the communication gap I got between the job I applied for and what I found out the hard way I was applying for later.
