Colloquio
I got a phone call from the hiring manager a couple of days after I sent him my resume. He was very pleasant, asked some general questions then informed me that HR would contact me soon to schedule an interview. HR contacted me some days later. They reserved a room for me at a nearby hotel since I was driving from out of state. I met with HR in one building where the lady who contacted me gave me company brochures, information on benefits, etc. She then directed me to the main interview building a couple of blocks down the street. I met with the hiring manager, project manager, and director of engineering. They were all very respectful and the interview was painless. They took me on a tour of the building where they showed me several projects they were working on and introduced me to a couple of younger engineers. One of the younger engineers (I think he would have been my team leader had I accepted the offer) talked to me about things I know and things I don't, what the environment is like, how teams cooperate, etc. It was a great day -- which says a lot b/c most interviews are exhausting and generally dreadful! The hiring manager contacted me over the weekend via email and informed me that they were interested and that HR would contact me soon with an offer, and so they did.

10-minute technical presentation followed by 15 minutes of questions. This is followed up with a 30-minute technical interview with various engineers. A separate 30-minute leadership interview is conducted with the hiring team along with other ELDPs.

Applied online for an entry-level design position. After an initial phone screening I interviewed on site with 7 engineers on the team.
All of the technical questions were fair, albeit I performed rather poorly.
That being said, my interaction with the hiring manager made this the most negative interview experience I have ever had.
After asking some initial questions about my background, he asked where my parents are from.
Next we moved on to some quick technical questions.
After about 3-4 questions, I came across one that I could not immediately answer. As I was trying to figure it out he blurted, "What do your parents do?".
Given the context, it seemed as if his question attempted to link my competency to my parents' occupations.
After I interviewed with the rest of the team, the hiring manager came to talk to me one last time.
In this conversation, he said, "Let me give you some advice, considering you're a [my ethnic background]".
The last part of his comment was completely unnecessary.
I don't think he intended to be offensive but his words were definitely misguided and unprofessional.

Had multiple phone screens with HR and engineers. Next, I had and on-site interview. Don't expect the engineering manager to reply to any of your emails following your interview, or even an automated HR message declining your candidacy either... They are also still trying to hire for the same entry level position 6 months later.
