Via Google Chats and SO casual. The hiring manager and I went to the same university, so that is pretty much all we discussed. He did ask about a couple things on my resume, but already seemed set on hiring me beforehand (I had received a referral from one of his former interns). I was able to get in several questions about the company culture, job description, and what they look for in new hires.
