I went into the facility to drop off a resume, they talked to me and set up an interview. Interview process was simple. All behavioral questions. Afterwards, she asked me if I would accept $9.75 an hour, and I said “absolutely not”. Considering I’m a medical student, and I spent well over a grand to get to be a certified phlebotomist, And the average pay for a certified phlebotomist is $16/hour. She said she would see what she could do about raising my starting pay, since I was already certified. Then I was given a tour of the facility and introduced to current employees.
She called back 2 days later to let me know they would only be willing to pay me the amount they offered, which is poverty level in my state. So I politely declined and said I didn’t spend thousands of dollars in school to accept the pay level of an uncertified phlebotomist.
The process has been easy and painless thus far. I look forward to completing it. I hope every thing is this easy continuing forward. I so far have been in the interview process for 3 days.

Easy interview, Manager was upfront about expectations. I appreciated being able to ask questions and establish possible promotion potential. Cross training was touched on, but needed more detail. There should be discussion about schedules during the interview process. BPL almost demands open availability and fails to explain that even though the doors close at a certain time, employees will have to stay later to allow donors to complete their donations.

There were two interviews. After I turned in my application, I was called about 2 days later and received an interview a week later. I was then called back for a second interview with the center supervisor a week after that. In all the process was about 3 weeks.
