      Colloquio

I was given the info of the director and was told to email her my resume. She forwarded my info onto 2 other people who set up a phone interview. During the phone interview, she was very thorough and wanted every detail of every position I worked (even ones in College which I thought was interesting. She also wanted to know what my college GPA was (insure how it was relevant to a recruiting position). At the end of the phone screen, she told me how I spoke very professionally and she thought my experience would yield me to be successful in the position. She told me she was excited and wanted to bring me in for an interview with the director. I gave her some dates and times I was available for the following week and she said she would get back to me. 2 days later I received an email with a date and time set up. The day before the interview I received an email cancelling the interview and telling me that I they were cancelling because #1, I apparently called it Baker & Tilly instead of Baker Tilly on my phone interview. Additionally on the phone interview I mentioned how the director forwarded my email onto them (I never spoke with the director) but mentioned that I wasn’t 100% sure of her name but thought it might be Lisa. It was Laura, reason #2 they cancelled. Overall, if they thought I was unprofessional, they shouldn’t have said how much they liked me and scheduled an interview. I think the professionalism is lacking on their end. Additionally, being THAT stingy will only turn future applicants away. Who wants to work for someone that is that crazy? Not me! I am a hiring manager currently and it’s important to remember you are trying to show potential employees why they would love to work at your company.
