Had virtual interview first which was great.. he really made me excited about the job and company. Then had in person interview which I also thought went well, although the 2 interviewers didn’t seem prepared with questions and it was very conversational. This was okay because they said personality was important and we seemed to click. It felt implied at the end of the interview that I had the job. However it got weird from there when we realized we knew some of the same people and after the interview he asked for references and specifically that it be from those people even though that put me in an awkward position at my current employer, especially because these people were not direct supervisors or people that could accurately reference me professionally. I did explain this to him but wanted the job so I did use one as a reference and subsequently was not offered the job and I have no idea why. Soon after the job posting was reposted and it’s been a long time since and I see them trying to fill this position again every couple of months which is a red flag.
