      Colloquio per Event Manager

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Baltimore Events (Laurel, MD) nel mese di set 2015

      Colloquio

I had applied to be an Event Manager, when in fact the job was not at all what I had expected, nor a management position. I drove over an hour for the interview and was told to allot 2 hours for it in case I was selected for a second interview (which would be a working interview). I was given a clipboard with a sheet of paper to fill out and told to attach my resume. There were 3 others that walked in right after me. I was in the waiting room for all of 5-7 minutes when I heard the receptionist talk to 4 more prospective interviewees that were all "selected" to come in. I was brought back and given a speedy, script-like dialogue "interview". Quite honestly I don't believe the man was listening to much of what I said, but listening for "buzzwords". It sounded like a job any people-person could do. I don't believe he looked at my resume too much, if at all. When I left I realized he still knew nothing about me. I was told we would review pay, bonuses, schedules, etc. on the second interview. My thought... I'd want to know those things before I use my time and money to return. I basically was able to get in a question about pay and if it was hourly/ salary, and based upon performance/ bonuses. I was told it was an hourly job, but if my bonus ended up being more than my hourly pay, I would be paid the bonus. Essentially this means this is a sales job, not an event manager job, and you don't receive a bonus on each sale. I was also being asked to take a 10k-15k paycut to start at an entry level position. No, thank you. I already spent the past 4 years in event and marketing coordination/ planning. I just wish I was given a more concise description of the job before I took my time to come in. I walked out of there so quickly!
