The interview process was pretty organized. 1. I first talked with a recruiter, who reached out on 2. I spoke with the hiring manager. 3. Another recruiter who went into the detail of the interview process. There were to be three interview days split into different segments. 4. First interview day: overview of Benchling, design session, management focus. The overview of Benchling was non-evaluative. It was a preview of the product. This session was ok -- the engineer presenting didn't know much about what they were presenting. It was a lot of copy-and-pasting to show the software features vs. how those features empower scientists to do research. The design session was pretty straightforward. Model a schema for the product that supports versioning. This session was pretty enjoyable. The management section asked about instances where I mentored junior engineers, senior engineers, etc. A bunch of behavioral questions. I also enjoyed this section. I didn't move to the second day. However, the recruiter got back to me and explained what the team's expectations were and where they felt I didn't meet them. I really appreciated the followup and the recruiter's and the overall organized interview process.
