Colloquio
The recruiting team reached out to me to schedule an initial interview via Hired.com. I talked to the recruiting team and moved forward based on the interesting company culture.
Each step in the interview built upon the past and the team really understood my story. They would break down the steps required and then move into the main content of the meeting. This shows they really care.
The engineering component was a take-home experience, which showcased a full-stack range of skills needed to accomplish. The final interview stages after a review of the take-home challenge were introduction to the CEO, which was a really impactful conversation and a great chance to understand the overall company mission.
Overall, many kind, engaged people asked inquisitive questions about my past and my personality.

The interview process was a bit lengthier than I expected. I think I ended up talking to a total of eight different people in one-on-one meetings.
The first was a screening call with their internal recruiter, then a technical screening call with a development manager (no code exercises, just a few technical questions). After that was a pair programming exercise with a developer; it involved adding a new feature to an existing app.
The next interview was a series of back-to-back, one-on-one interviews with four different employees. Some were definitely better than others. One of the interviewers seemed to be annoyed that that had to conduct an interview and just basically read questions off of a script.
The final interview was with the CTO.

What is an example of a time you needed to convince a stakeholder that your idea was correct?

The process was conducted via email and Google Hangout – I never spoke to anyone on the phone.
Steps:
* Interview with hiring manager
* Technical interview with a team member (conversational – no white boarding or code puzzles)
* Take home project (4 hours expected; I found it to be realistic)
* Interview to discuss submission from take home project
* On-site in San Francisco
* Co-founder interview (I assume this is the last step)
Each step took about a week to hear whether I moved on. I didn't make it to the on-site.
Overall the process and interactions were positive.
My only misgivings were:
1) it took a too long to move me through their pipeline (I say that without knowing how many candidates I was competing with)
2) I don't feel like I had the full attention of the last interviewer. It felt as through the decision had been made and the interview was just a formality. I didn't feel engaged and it was the only part of the process I didn't feel good about afterward.
