I had a talk with the recruiter where I got an overview of the company and culture. She told me more details about the role itself and I was asked a few questions about my experience, how I like to work, how I want my career to look like in the future, etc. I had a tech screening scheduled the same week and in the screening I went through a live coding exercise. It was very chilled, we went talking about the problem and coding the solution, basically a real life pair programming but I was the only one coding. After 2 days I got a message from the recruiter, explaining that they liked me but the fact I am not available full time was a big problem. Although I did not make it I am sure there will be new opportunities to work with them and we might work together at some point. I was really triggered by how great it would be to work with those guys. I am usually critical to tech interview. I do them myself and I think most companies just ask about things their developers had just spent weeks or even months struggling with and they want the candidate to say he know the solution by heart. Not the case here, the test was simple and effective and the guy interviewing me was very friendly and helpful. Seemed like it would be a good person to work with. The recruiter was also very different from the norm. Instead of just rushing through my cv and just sending me for the interview she took time to make sure not only I had the tech knowledge for the role but that I was also the kind of personality the company is made of (I don't know the guys working there but thats what I understood from the talk). Overall it was a great experience. I am very impressed with the company.
