Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Blend360 nel mese di feb 2021
Colloquio
This is the most weird company I interviewed with. I applied through online and got an HR call. First step was a video interview with one of their VPs of Data Science. That went well and I really enjoyed talking to him. Next, they scheduled another interview with a Lead Data Scientist. This was a really weird interview. Actually Blend 360 has a lot of Lead (!!) data scientists with just BS or may be an MS degree with couple of years of experience. Their knowledge is very shallow, and this guy was a perfect example of that. He kept cutting me off whenever I was diving deep. I was very annoyed and thought of withdrawing my candidacy after that interview. I don't know why I did not do that!!
Next was their technical challenge, it was mostly python and SQL and it was fine. After that they invited me to the virtual onsite.
There was a series of miscommunications and randomness which showed that they do not actually value their candidates. They scheduled my onsite interview on a Tuesday, and I got the email about the details on Friday afternoon. There were couple of mistakes I make them aware of, they fixed one but not the other. Now, I have an interview on Monday 9am as they mistakenly scheduled that and I can not attend that as I had prior engagements. I got an email from the interviewer on Monday at 9.15 am for not showing up for the interview!!
Next, on Monday afternoon I got a phone call that I have to take another technical challenge during my interview. I have been already scheduled for a day long interview and they want me to take another technical challenge on the same day!! I really did not find the reason behind it as all they do is just building dashboards!
I met with four interviewers during onsite. I asked the first interviewer that it is common for data science projects to fail, how do you handle failure in blend360. He replied that you can not fail in blend 360. Then he said - 'Did you get scared?' I was like wth?? He also specifically mentioned that I have to work at least 45-50 hrs/week. I understand the companies have deadlines and sometimes it is okay to work overtime. But if it is something the management specifically wants then it was a big NO!
Then I was interviewed with another lead (!!!!) data scientist. He gave me a SQL problem to solve without writing the code. I described him my approach and I am pretty sure it was right but he tried to drive me towards the only solution he knew. Again, this shows the depth of the knowledge of their lead data scientists.
One of the interviewers even asked me how much I make now, they seriously lack professionalism!!
I would never recommend Blend360 to any one who wants to do real data science and ML.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. Sounds like there was some miscommunication, this an uncommon instance and we’ll do better in the future.
