HR contacted me because I had a similar role with a competitor. This was a standard qualification interview, asking about my current role and responsibilities and informing me about the open position. Then set up interview with the hiring manager. This was a disaster. He was extremely unprepared and spent most of the 30 minutes scanning a printout of my LinkedIn profile -- as if it was going to reveal some sort of insight. He didn't know what to ask me about, had little curiosity about my current role, didn't bother to get my view on market trends and opportunities, etc.... I came well-prepared with views on potential short-term and long-term plans for the business and was met by someone who didn't seem to know much about the business he was responsible for or how to find someone who did. Given Bloomberg's reputation, I was pretty shocked by this experience.

It was add hoc, so very impromptu. I was not intimidated but it did lake some proper structure. At this level, I suppose it's the approach needed to get a role in a different company. Everyone was very approachable and did make you feel at easy, and at no time did it ever feel like things were ‘thrown’ at you, so no trick questions.
