The interview process for the Junior Consultant position was thorough but a strong emphasis on ensuring that both the company and the candidate where a suitable match. Bluefish ensured that they were very open and honest about the role and and the company culture from the start. The process began with a CV filter which led on to a 30 minute telephone interview. This was a relaxed 'chat' about my personal background, my degree course, my previous experience and my future as well as an opportunity for me to ask any questions I had about Bluefish. Following this I was invited to a JCAD (Junior Consultant Assessment Day) at the head office in Newbury. This was a full day of individual and group exercises designed to see if the candidates were suitable for the role and the company and vice versa. The day was split into two parts, first was a 'speed interview' process consisting of 5, 15 minute interviews back to back with a range of questions varying from personal, background, professional, academic and career focused. The interviews were all done in a welcoming and friendly manner but with no question as to the professionalism and quality the company expected. Following this was a group presentation exercise where in teams of 4/5 we were given a case study of a business in trouble and as a group had to decipher their main constraints and put together a proposal to present back to the company in order to win a consultancy contract. This, as with any group exercise of this nature, demanded an ability to work as a team but also excel as an individual whilst demonstrating strong knowledge of business strategy and growth drivers. Following this session I was invited back for a final interview with two of Bluefish's managers which involved an hour long conversation at the Newbury HQ around how I may add value into the organisation, where I see myself in the future but also with a very strong emphasis on what I can expect from Bluefish in return. The whole process was managed efficiently by a thorough and professional operations department who ensured I was aware of the next steps in the process at every opportunity.
