I applied in-person. I had a group interview with 2 other candidates that took around 30 minutes. After the interview, I sent the manager a hand-written thank you note which she still has pinned in her office!

The interviewer asked us to "sell" the outfit we were wearing to the interviewer by talking to her as if she was a customer. I thought it was a great question that actually demonstrated how we would do as an employee working on the sales floor and assisting customers in selecting items.

I applied in person, got a call 3 days later and was asked to come in for a group interview. Had to sell an outfit I picked out. Got a call back for a second interview.
