Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Booking.com (Amsterdam) nel mese di dic 2015
Colloquio
1st Interview: Phone interview with the Recruiter:
The recruiter is looking to know more about you; your work experience, why booking? why the position? As well as your experience with conversion funnels and how do you measure success. There is also time allotted at the end for any questions you have. If successful, you will be asked to proceed and schedule for the second interview.
Coding Challenge:
This is a timed challenge (30mins) which a link was emailed to me and had to be done before the 2nd interview. I had to replicate a country tile (with flag) from the home page of booking.com. They provided images.
2nd Interview: Technical phone interview with 2 members from IT team (UX designers)
Part A) There was a very specific agenda of questions and it seemed that everything was time slotted. The interviewers first introduced themselves and then told me a bit about themselves and their roles at booking.com. I was asked about my work experience, design process and how I use UX in projects. They selected a website from my portfolio to discuss and asked questions. You will be asked to come prepared with changes to the site. 3 seemed more then enough. For each - outline WHAT you would change, WHY you would change it and HOW you would measure it (A/B test). These should be small changes that could be done right away.
Part B) Next was the coding task: I was asked to create a grey box with a blue rectangle (middle top) inside and then 3 small blocks inside the grey box at the bottom (1 in each corner and then 1 in the middle). I was asked about the priority of inline, div and class. and also <span> and !important
** If you are a UX designer first and foremost you should really question the interviewers of what the role really entails - like... what is a day in the life of a UX designer at booking? I got the impression that it is front end Dev 1st and designer second. In fact I was told 50/50 by the recruiter and then 30 design/70 dev from the UX designers themselves. Booking is very data driven and love A/B testing so keep that in mind through the interview process. Overall I thought the interview was a good challenge.
Good Luck!

Applied through their website and was given a challenge to complete in 30 mins.
I knew it would involve html and css skills but the challenge was ridiculous and irrelevant to UX design.
Im glad I got to see what the job will invilve as it's not even what I would want to do everyday.

Quick code assessment, followed by screening call with a recruiter, followed by phone interview with two team members. The recruiter tries to anticipate what might be a challenge for you in the next round, and how to prepare. I was asked to present 3 ideas to improve the site, which seems like a lot for an interview. Seemed like I was doing well through the whole process until I received a rejection email after the phone interview. The reasons given for the rejection were a little vague and not reflective (in my opinion) of the work I presented. It was also surprising, given that the interviewers complimented my ideas as well as my technical ability. It gave the impression that they were just fishing for ideas to improve the site. I wouldn't be surprised to find the ideas I presented being implemented.

What if your change caused conversions to go down, and the data doesn't show why?

First was a simple test on HackerRank, followed by a phone interview with two employees. During that interview, there was another simple online test in real time. Just basic HTML & CSS. Easy.
About a week later I got invited to Amsterdam for an in-person interview.
HR manager was very helpful and friendly and assisted during the entire time, gave some valuable bits of advice about the interview process. I was asked to prepare 3 things I'd change on the Booking.com website, why and how I would measure the results.
They booked the flights and hotel room for me. All was smooth and well organized.
The interview was divided into 3 rounds with different employees. One technical, second more focused on your ability to think and solve problems, and the final one with lead designer.
Everybody who I met at Booking.com during my visit was friendly and nice people.
