Opened up with a phone conversation and then came into the actual office. Met with VP of Sales, Sales Manager, Team lead for SDR. Went through previous experience and how I could be an asset to Boomtrain's sales team. They were very open and understanding that we were simply out of college and

Super easy process. Had a phone screen and met with the team once. Was offered the job about a week later. The team leader didn't really have an understanding of the role itself since she had never actually been an SDR before. Somewhat offputting. Team member who I would work with asked solid questions but for the most part was pretty general in the interview questions.

The recruiter and CEO was fine on the phone but when I came to meet the management team, I was not only underwhelmed but majorly turned off. They were the biggest pack of bros ever. They wanted to talk about themselves, how successful they've been, and how they're building the next "unicorn." One guy mentioned several times, unprompted, that he went to Cornell. (It was like he was Andy Bernard from The Office.) When I tried to dive in on revenue growth, churn rates and sales strategy, they were first elusive and then offended that I kept pushing. They became dismissive altogether and acted like they were too good to answer these questions, and used intimidation tactics to shut me down. The impression I got was that this is a group of arrogant tech/frat bros who have no real track record of success.
This is probably the most telling story of all. When I asked them how they came up with the company name, they said they were on a boat in Baja, drinking beer. They were trying to come up with billion-dollar startup ideas, and they had so many they almost couldn't choose. "Boom, that's a good one! Boom, that's another good one! Boom, another one! You better get on this BOOM TRAIN before it leaves the station!" Lol.

They asked me to draw up a plan for the first 6 months, as well as list all of my vendors, and contact information for all tech entrepreneurs, investors, analysts and journalists I knew. They literally came in with a notepad and pen, handed it to me and asked me to start mapping things out as they watched. They were basically asking me to do the work for free.
