I got a phone call from the hiring manager and we chatted about the role. After that, I met with a different Manager in the region over video call. My final interview was with the VP of the region. A few days later I got a call from the hiring manager that everyone loved me and that they were extending a contingent verbal offer, contingent on background and drug test. I told the hiring manager that I would love to accept the position, my background would come up clean, and that depending on how their drug tests are set up, I may or may not pass because I have a medical cannabis prescription. The hiring manager (someone in HR) said that he did not know what the company policy was (what?), that it probably wouldn't be an issue, and that he would send some paperwork over that night. I never received the paperwork. After reaching out via text, email, and a phone call over the span of two more weeks, it was clear they were ghosting me and not giving me the very easy courtesy of letting me know, that based on their policies, it wasn't going to work out. Overall, I feel like I really dodged a bullet based on the non-existent ownership and communication post verbal offer.
