      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 4 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Butterfly Network (New York, NY)

      Colloquio

Quick phone screen. Asked for references right away. They scheduled a gchat, which was a bit strange. The person did not introduce himself and went straight into questions. Midway into the interview, I found out that apparently 4Catalyzer will interview me not Butterfly Networks (I applied for Butterfly Networks). Note: 4Catalyzer owns Butterfly Networks. Questions they asked was what is the difference between npm and pip and checked if I followed the latest tech news. They did describe some cool projects they're working on, like deep learning with GPUs. They did not do any screenshare or coding problems. It seems to be mostly fact based questions. They then asked to prepare and present 30 mins on some project and describe a tech stack that I was working on. I took the weekend to prepare. The entire presentation was 25 slides but it took 3 hours because I was interrupted every slide with very detailed questions about why I did things a certain way (which is fine... but a little annoying after every slide). Did not really feel like a dialogue, it was pretty much felt like being interrogated. I have the impression that they are very bright, however, it did not feel like a very constructive or friendly environment. A lot of the questions they ask isn't thought process questions, it's more fact based... Also, I don't think they had any management training to actually interview people.. It felt like a committee meeting over a 30 min presentation, not a job interview. I really do hope they fix the interview process/culture because I do have high hopes for what they're working on. An hour after the interview, I then got a phone call from someones else at Butterfly Network asking me to interview for a position with them half in NY and half in CT, which really confused me. I had another offer so I asked them to get back to me quickly if it was a no, and they told me I was not a good fit at this time. Still getting emails about a fullstack position from Butterfly Networks in CT thou, so I'm still very confused and decided to move on. UPDATE. Someone at Butterfly Networks in CT offices called me, and asked for some very honest feedback which is great to see that a company is trying to improve! I would definitely reconsider applying but for the CT offices, but I don't think I'd recommend NYC offices at the moment...because to me the people you're gonna be spending most of your time with actually matters.
