I applied online and then received an email a couple of days later requesting that I set up a phone interview. Setting up the interview was all done online and the employee that conducted my phone interview was friendly. She explained how the company works (which I already knew due to the research I did before applying) and more of the position's job duties in detail. She then asked me questions and asked if I had any questions at the end. I felt like it went really smoothly and that she and I hit it off (we found out we had a lot in common, we laughed through out the interview, etc). She ended the call by stating I should expect a call in a few days to set up the next step in the interview process. So, of course, I was saddened to receive an email a couple of days later informing me that they were no longer interested in going forward.
