I did not get an interview. The process is high dependent on the departments. Some departments such as bio may require onsite interview. Basically you need to get an excellent GPA, and very good research background, good recommendations to get admitted. I think the personal statement is very important. Contacting professors before submitting your application is helpful.

1 hour of Skype interview with a professor. I gave a presentation about my master study and my work experience. I had to prepare slides and gave an 1 hour presentation. The admission came after about 10 days after the interview.

The culture is very informal, the opposite of bureaucratic. The interview included a tour of campus, description of research topics, and an introduction to other graduate students and support staff. The application process typically does not include an interview, but one can be requested for those who are seriously candidates.
