      Colloquio

I happened to make it to the very end of this long and grueling interview process, and during this 3 month long process (yes, it took 3 months!) I had to go through 5 - 6 human interviews, take an assessment test, a competency test, answer a hand written Q&A (and then convert it to a PDF) and complete a quiz! After completing each task, I'd have to wait a week or two before I'm given the next task (sometimes even longer). That's a lot of work just to apply to a company that may or may not hire you. Just not worth the time and effort!

It all has started with the "written interview" where you have to write about your favourite subjects at high school and how you adore Canonical. At first, I decided to skip this vacancy just not to waste my time but later I had some free time and wrote about A4 page of text and submitted it. It seems that I have impressed bots and was asked to choose the time with one of Support Engineers. I've chosen a time, prepared for the interview, and met somebody who even haven't opened my CV before the interview and wasn't interested to hire me. He didn't ask even "Tell me about yourself". Literally, two questions: What do you know about Canonical? This is your second job, how old are you? (I am less than 30 btw). Exceptional experience, it's hard to choose appropriate words to describe it. Avoid at any cost!

The hiring process involved several steps. The 2nd step was a (very long) written interview and the 3rd some aptitude tests. The problem is that the position was posted as local at LinkedIn and the number of applicants was in the dozens. When I have been informed that my application was rejected I have inquired why, and in the answer it was mentioned that I was pitted against 5000 other applicants. If I knew that figure I would never have bothered investing my time in the process. So, stay away from Canonical folks!

I am in shock. I was never asked such a written essay. After almost 10 years in professional industry, I find it really bizarre that they are asking me about my high school background. Such an outdated interviewing process and unecessary waste of time. I haven't really replied to them, and after reading other reviews - Canonical is definitly not a company I would want to work for, nor will I recommend it to anybody else. So bizarre.
