Colloquio
From the beginning, my interview experience with Capital City Consulting has been that of a cloak and dagger. I was recommended to apply to this position from a friend who interviewed with the "Owner" just 2 days before my interview. They informed me that in the interview the "Owner" offered the starting salary for the first 5 weeks of training as $40,000 to $41,000 annually with the potential for increase based on commission. I personally have more experience in this position than my friend so thats why they recommended it to me given the "high" starting salary. When I went into my interview I happened to interview with the same person. Without asking, she offered the starting salary to me as it could range from $30,000 to $35,000 annually with the potential for growth. Something didn't sit right with me about that. I asked my interviewer why I received two different starting salaries and she dodged the question with "I wouldn't tell someone what they could make because it's all up to their drive to sell and exceed their goals". I left the interview with a huge question mark and an offer for a second interview. I wanted to find out more because the first interview was very vague and left a lot of blanks about the position. On my second interview, I met a Team Leader and was scheduled to go with him for a whole day from 9:15 to 4:15. I was never explained the details of what the interview would consist of. I found that the interview consisted of driving over an hour with the Team Leader and a new recruit and my communication skills would be evaluated. I had questions through the day regarding the details of the position that I was told to hold off until lunch. As we get to our destination I find that the interview consists of walking around from business to business and soliciting Verizon business. This was something I was not well prepared for because I had worn shoes that are not so comfortable to walk long distances in. Lunch finally approached at about 1:15 pm and I sat down to speak with the Team Leader. He danced around the information of the starting salary. However he was the only honest individual I had come across in my experience with this company thus far. I find out that the position has a $0.00 starting salary. You don't get paid ANYTHING until you make a sale, there's no mileage reimbursement and 2 pay options. $400.00/week plus 20% commission or 100% commission. This is completely fine that their pay structure is this way. My problem is with the shady office that has nothing in it, the way the interviewer LIED to my friend and I about starting pay and that I completely wasted my valuable time driving over an hour out of my way and spending a full day doing something that I would never have done if they were just up front and honest with me. These people should learn the meaning of the statement "Honesty is the best policy". Apparently their disorganized, dishonest, shady and unprofessional company has no policy of the sort.
I wouldn't tell anyone where to work because it's their prerogative. However, I DO NOT recommend anyone go into an interview with expectations of this company giving them true and accurate information regarding the position.

They want to know if you are determined and a go-getter to solicit Verizon business from small businesses. It's all face to face, so personality is key . My qualifications put me as a desired candidate but there is no way I would work for a company without some kind of base pay. I am worth more than what their pay structures offer.

I had applied to an administrative position online. The next day, they called me and wanted me to come in for an interview immediately for a different position. They called the position a client or an account manager position. I went to the interview, and there I was told that I would be presenting information to clients. There was absolutely no mention of sales whatsoever. The questions were pretty easy, just why you think you belong in the company etc. Make sure to have a few questions ready because they will be looking for that from you. They asked me to come back Monday, the next business day after the first interview, for a job shadowing interview. I was never told that a staff member would be driving me around going door to door to businesses. By the time I found out, it was too late to even grab my jacket. The driver/staff member was very unprofessional and I felt unsafe being in his car. I was offered the position, but I declined because I felt deceived.

The most difficult question was why do I think I will be successful in the company.
