I was contacted by a recruiter two weeks ago and was told that Cavendish took an interest in my CV and that they would love to interview me for the role. I was initially sceptical as the firm requested Shared Ownership and Newbuild experience, the latter of which I did not have. I asked the recruiter if he was sure and he told me that he already ran it past the interviewer at the firm who said it was fine and that she still wanted to interview me. We scheduled a pre-interview with HR for this morning.
I spent the next two weekends preparing for the interview and even took a day off to do a final run-through as I was so excited and eager to interview.
This morning, 10 minutes before the interview began, I received a call from the recruiter. My heart sank as my recruiter told me that the HR interviewer called him this morning and told him to cancel my interview. He said that the HR interviewer told him that she has a lot of interviews scheduled for today and because I did not have Newbuild experience, he should just cancel my interview as it would just be a waste of her time.
I was furious. The interviewer has had my CV with her for the past two weeks and she knew that I did not have Newbuild experience from the outset. Instead of making the recruiter call me 10 minutes before the interview, she could have said at the outset that it would not be a match.
Cavendish got my hopes up and wasted my weekends and a work day. It is insulting to be called up minutes before an interview and to be told that they had to cancel due to a waste of time. It is so unprofessional.
It feels even worse because the HR interviewer did not bother to contact me herself and apologise.
I am really disappointed with this experience.
