My initial interview with Centene was positive, and the interviewer was friendly. During that conversation, we discussed my resume in detail, including questions about specific roles, short-term positions, and employment gaps. I explained that after being out of the workforce for six years, my recent experience includes contract and shorter-term roles, which is common when re-entering the workforce and taking opportunities where available. After not hearing anything for about two months, I assumed the role had been filled. When I was later contacted for another interview, I prioritized making it work despite a very difficult morning personally. Unfortunately, the second interview felt very disengaged. The interviewer (only one out of two scheduled had shown) stated their camera was not working and asked only one question (“Tell me about yourself”). I had to carry out most of the conversation by asking questions myself. It was clear early on that the interest was not there, and I received a standard rejection through the website the next day. Interviews should be a two-way conversation in which both the candidate and the company present themselves professionally. This experience felt like a waste of time and reflected poorly on the hiring process. I stayed and kept the conversation going more out of frustration than anything, though I had considered bowing out of the interview altogether professionally.

Straightforward and overall positive! My interviewer was very nice and thorough. They were honest about the pay and process and what other opportunities may come with working within this company.
