This is a tough one to write. I've waited the better part of a year in order to give myself time to reflect upon on the interview process at Charlie Health and am finally ready to put these words into writing. The adage "you won't remember what people did, but you will remember how they made you felt" encapsulates my CH interview experience. Although the role that I sought was not a caregiving position, I think it is relevant to highlight the C.H. ethos because the company is involved in the well-being of young people. The interview process was lengthy, lasting approximately 3 months and at least five rounds. During that time, I was required to produce one work product and present it to CH leadership. The hiring manager rescheduled multiple interviews at the last minute, causing substantial disruption to my personal and professional lives. Communication was poor, but not accidentally so. CH staff refused to honor commitments and repeatedly used evasive language in email communications. The experience has reminded me that while a particular mission may be noble, organizations are comprised by human beings at the end of the day. And in the case of C.H., the company pursued the path of their corporate identity being an exclusive and fraternal one, rather than something reflective of their external mission. I do hope that Charlie Health sees this review. All companies are capable of being cruel to job candidates, and my interview process reminded me of that. How C.H., a mental health organization, conducts its hiring extracts an immense price from job seekers ---- and many hours of lost sleep. I am fortunate now to be a part of a different organization which lives its values.
