      Colloquio

Overall, the interview process was highly tedious and the tasks were unnecessary. I was required to interview with two senior associates, each for 30 minutes to one hour over the phone. After passing that round, I was then required to come for an on-site interview where I interviewed with the same two senior associates for one hour each, then interviewed with four other senior associates for an hour a piece. I also had a 1.5 hour lunch. In total, my first on-site interview was 6.5 to 7 hours. The questions weren't hard at all, but I was grilled on having one average grade for my undergraduate degree. I couldn't even remember how to explain how I received one average grade when I took the course 7-8 years ago. I graduated with honors with a decently high GPA; I guess that wasn't good enough. Moving on, I then had to have a one hour phone interview with the other founder of the company, Maki. I found her to be very nice and we had a great conversation about both the professional and certain personal aspects of our lives. I really enjoyed talking to her- I would absolutely work for a person like Maki. I was then invited back to complete a case study on-site. I got there at 9 am, but received an email from the senior associate I was in contact with that he was going to be late. I ended up not starting the case study until 10 am. I completed about 90% of the case study after two hours then explained my findings. The "interview" process didn't stop there. The senior associate I was in contact with the most then invited me back AGAIN on a Friday, for which I had no idea why I was being invited back. Mind you, I had to take off at least two days of work at this point from all of the phone and on-site interviews as well as the case study. I went back into the office and I had to do a SECOND case study that took me about 30 minutes to complete. It was incredibly easy and I didn't appreciate that they took me out of work again for a sophomore-level undergrad finance spreadsheet. I was then told that I was going to be hearing back from them in the next 1-2 weeks. Unfortunately, 3-4 weeks went by and I didn't receive anything from the two senior associates I was in contact with. I emailed them both; one responded, the other didn't. I emailed them both back a second time a week later and they both ignored my email. I never spoke to them again. In total, my interview process totaled around 14 hours over 2-3 weeks. I had to take 2-3 days off from work to interview with them, and I never even received a reasonable "yes" or "no". I really enjoyed meeting the executive management team at Chartres and I absolutely think they have a bright future. However, their interview process was highly tedious. My best friends at private equity and venture capitalist firms told me that their interview processes aren't half as long as what I was subjected to. And the worst and most unprofessional part- I didn't receive an answer back. Highly, highly unprofessional. It can be a good opportunity, but I personally would not work for certain people with this company. Very disrespectful.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

Technical questions were quite easy; out of the dozens and dozens I answered, I knew and understood probably 90-95% of them. The senior associates did have a few funny questions that had nothing to do with work, and they just wanted to see how you responded. I found that very humorous.
