So many red flags. I had two interviews with the VP of Integration and one with the President. In the two follow-up interviews, CheckAlt staff were unprepared. I'd prepared a detailed analysis of CheckAlt's database, which had not been reviewed in advance. The President had only glanced at my resume.
While I had a generally positive experience interviewing with the VP of Integration, I have never been so disrespected in a professional setting as when I interviewed with the president. He belittled my experience throughout the interview and basically said I was not qualified for this role. He took issue with how I found the job through LinkedIn (welcome to 2021). He asked me my current salary (generally frowned upon, but also illegal in several states, including CA where CheckAlt headquarters are located).
Overall, he was dismissive, rude, and uninterested. If this is how CheckAlt treats people who WANT to come work for them, it makes me wonder how poorly they treat their current employees.
After all that, they still wanted to move forward. I withdrew my application.
Other red flags: Benefits package is not competitive at all. Pay listed was above market rate, which means you're going to be taking on a lot of work. If someone says three times in an interview that this work environment is "fast-paced," that tells me they're chronically understaffed and their current staff are overworked. Run.
