From a non-target school, applied online but also had internal referral from a friend working there right now.
1) First Round: Phone
Got invite in early Feb, scheduled for a call in mid Feb with a director in NYC office, very friendly conversation, focused on why GTS, why Citi, what does GTS do and a few traditional behavior questions. Acceptance to final rounds came 4 hours after the call.
2) Final Round: On-site
Three 1:1 interviews in Citi’s NYC office with 2 directors and 1 VP in late Feb. First interviewer focused on analytical skills, second on leadership, and third on resume/past experiences. No technical questions, A LOT of “give me an example of…” questions. Offers were extended the next business day. Rejections came one day later, via phone, so don’t get too excited when you receive their call after final rounds.
Overall: definitely not a difficult interview process, 99% are “fit” questions. Citi GTS really cares how much you know about them, whether you are really interested, and whether you will be a good fit to the team. People are mostly very nice and helpful, willing to share their stories, and not being too aggressive. GTS is a decent option for people not interested in IBD lifestyle but still wanting to pursue a non-back-office role in an investment bank.
