I interviewed for the Citi's product manager position. Let me start with the HR management, it is so laid back, slow, and disorganized, that it ruins the interview process. It was so hard to contact the HR team to get scheduled for an interview. Finally, when an interview was scheduled, I met the hiring manager, who was a systems analyst first, then moved to consulting, and then a product manager. I literally had a similar trajectory of career path, to which he said, it may be a challenge as I do not have lending/banking experience. Did he look back to his career path? I answered all my experiences and his questions in STAR methodology and relevant to the role. A week later they rejected me with no feedback. Big companies treating applicants like garbage in this 2024 job market is the worst scenario. This not only demotivates an individual but also brings down their confidence and mental well-being.

Recruiter contacted me via email to set up time to interview. I had 3 interviews set up over 2 days. My first interviewer never showed up. I emailed the recruiter and received NO response. I had my 2nd and 3rd interviews which we standard. Both asked me what I had been told about the role - seems as though there was a step missing or no communication between these interviewers. I emailed the recruiter again to rescheduled the first interview and to follow up - received no response. The people I did speak with were great and I enjoyed my conversations. The recruiter no responding was unprofessional. I know recruiters may ghost after an interview. But when a candidate has interviews scheduled and to not acknowledge or respond is unprofessional.
