      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite l'università. La procedura ha richiesto 3 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Citi (New York, NY) nel mese di ott 2010

      Colloquio

I applied on my college's career website to interview for this position. 3 days later I found out that I got the first round on-campus interview. The first round interview was 1:1 with a senior professional out of New York. Theoretical finance questions. Lots of them. Went into great depth. Covered accounting, microeconomics, macroeconomics, bond pricing, derivatives, risk profiles and current affairs. Next week, I got an email from HR staff for a Super Day in New York. Super Day had about 32 candidates. Most candidates were from NYU, Penn. The candidates were broken into groups of 4. Each group was assigned 4 interviewers and you rotated through the interviewers individually. So, the Super Day consisted of four 45-min 1:1 interviews. They were back to back. Each candidate interviewed with a Managing Director, Vice President, Associate Vice President and an Associate. The interview style was broken down like this: 0 - 10: General conversation about your resume 10 - 25: Fit questions 25 - 35: Discussion about current affairs 35 - 45: Technical questions Everyone was EXTREMELY nice. Even if you were struggling a little bit with the answers, they filled in the gaps. They wanted to make sure that the flow of the conversation was maintained and that there were no awkward moments. The fit questions were very specific. Not just: Why Citi? It was like: I am sure you have looked at the various groups within CMO. Which one do you think suits you best and why? What about one you are not so comfortable about? The technical questions were also quite hard. Most of them asked questions regarding the specific groups they were from. I got a lot of questions about securitization of cash flows and equity derivatives. That will obviously be different. Tips for interview: This might sound clichéd, but read the Wall Street Journal - back to front - for at least one week before the interview. I linked every answer to some news report and it was very easy to have a conversation. Otherwise, it would have been very Q&A style.
