I had 2 rounds of interviews and 1 take-home assignment. When they asked me to provide 3 references immediately to facilitate a rapid process I thought I was going to receive a job offer. However, I learned that I am not the right fit for the position. It was quite disappointing and embarrassing that they actually called my references for about 15 mins. Of course, they can choose how to evaluate candidates but I found it a bit disrespectful regarding reference is normally regarded as the last step.
