      Colloquio

Found out about the job by walking in and asking for an application. I filled out the application the same day and returned it. Then I was immediately given to a manager who then asked me to tell them about myself briefly. I told them about my sales and management background. They liked the retail & sales background I had too and asked me why I wanted to work for them. They also asked me how many hours I was looking for per week. I was told right there that they wanted to schedule an interview with me. I came back to be interviewed and met with a different manager who asked me similar pre-interview questions of why I wanted to work there and to tell them about myself (this time it was the Store Manager). They then handed me some forms to fill out before my interview, one was an availability sheet and another was a background and driving history check. When I filled those out the original manager I met with came out to interview with me. We did not interview in the store but at a table located outside of the store. The manager was very nice, dressed in a black sweater and white crisp french color shirt and black pants. - She asked me about myself - Why I wanted to work for Coach - Describe a negative experience I have had in retail - Describe a situation I couldn't handle - Tell me about your sales background - What was a time you had trouble closing a sale - Where do you see yourself in 5 years - Why did you leave/quit your last job - Tell me about your job history - Tell me about your last job - We must have complete and open availability, do you have this? - Are you looking to grow with a company - Do you have any questions for me Then we chit chatted about customer service scenarios we both had. It was friendly professional banter and they seemed very nice and outgoing. The interview flowed very well. At the end of the interview they handed me two pieces of paper that showed the dress code for both men and woman and acceptable attire. They then added that "Scarfs" were no longer permitted as part of the uniform. They went on to discuss how the dress code is pretty easy to follow and mostly 'common sense." They said they really liked me but were not going to make any offer until the background check was cleared. They told me it would take about a week or less to get the background check results back. After the interview we shook hands and went our separate ways. I followed-up by phone a few days later to check on the progress of the background check, and spoke to the manager that interviewed me. They really appreciated me following up and said no results were back yet. About 2 days later I got call from the manager that interviewed me. They said that the background check cleared and that they wanted to extend me an offer of employment, at this time they told me the salary they could offer me, and then they put me down on the schedule to start my training a few days later. Ultimately my perceptions were it was a team oriented environment, I did get the impression that there were a lot of managers running around. Everyone seemed nice however when I presented myself as a potential employee they really warmed up to me a bit. Overall it was a pleasant experience, unfortunately the job isn't so much so now :(.
