      Colloquio per Proofreader (Temporary)

      23 lug 2013
      Candidato anonimo a colloquio
      Baltimore, MD
      Nessuna offerta
      Esperienza negativa
      Colloquio difficile

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un'agenzia di reclutamento personale. La procedura ha richiesto 3 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso CohnReznick (Baltimore, MD) nel mese di ott 2012

      Colloquio

The interviewer was late, did not greet me (I was led to her) and seemed visibly irritated and inconvenienced by the entire process. She was openly distrustful of editors and came right out and said she did not believe editors could tone it down sufficiently and just proofread. She did not read my resume closely and made sweeping, inaccurate statements about my experience (which was clearly negated by what was on the resume). I asked about parking fees because I was concerned that the sub-par salary would not justify the cost of the commute and parking (although I did not express this concern). She became defensive and said, “We all (the permanent employees here) pay out of pocket!” That may be true, but employee salaries would far exceed the one for this position. I soon discovered the interview had indeed been a waste of time—for both of us. Proofreaders in this position were supposed to have competent 10-key skills (with a minimum keystroke speed). However, this was the fault of the agency that sent me to the interview, and not CohnResnick. I had asked the placement agency point-blank if 10-key skills were required for this position, and the representative said they were not.

      Domanda 1

In my experience, editors want to edit the whole world. Can you do straightforward proofreading?
