Colloquio
Their recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn. The phone call was very brief. His first question was - 1. Why are you planning to leave your current job?
2. How much are you earning right now?
I answered the first and refused to disclose how much I was making. He replied saying he had to know how much I was making in order to continue with the process. When I provided him a range instead, he responded by saying he had a lot of experience meeting candidates like me and that given my experience, I should be making much lesser than what I am currently at. He added that he would continue with the process if I agreed to a number much lesser since the company had to spend for my immigration. He was very rude and unprofessional. He probably assumed he could lowball candidates by bullying them. I declined from proceeding with the conversation any further. I wish the recruiter spent more time discussing the opportunity rather than being fixated on the pay from the get-go. I would have probably been ok with a lesser salary if the role was The company should seriously consider reviewing their interview process and recruiters.
