      Colloquio

My overall experience with this company was incredibly poor. It began with a recruiter asking me when I was available for interviews. At the time, I was working for a call center and did not have the flexibility to take time off to go to interviews and it was certainly out of the question for me to schedule interviews close to the end of my shift, as you never know if a call will come through right when you need to clock out. I let her know under no uncertain terms that it would need to be scheduled for at least an hour after I got off work. The recruiter kept trying to convince me to schedule the interview at a time that was closer to my end of shift which was the first red flag. After a considerable amount of back and forth of me incessantly expressing that that was not a good idea and I did not want to chance hitting off work traffic and running late to the interview, I decided to just cancel the relationship and focus on other opportunities. Then about 2 months later, I finally decided to resign from the call center and against my better judgment decided it might be worth it to still try and work with this recruitment firm. Perhaps now that my schedule is open the opportunity will work out.The initial position was closed but another position (Business Analyst II) had opened up. I was very excited about the role and immediately set to cater my resume to the position and stayed on top of communication with the same recruiter to schedule an interview for the position. Since my schedule was a bit more flexible we were able to schedule an interview this time. It was set for 2 weeks out and according to the administrative coordinator who sent a follow-up email confirming my interview date, it said I needed to speak with the CEO before my interview date. I called him the day before (Little did he know that I actually had recruitment experience working for a smaller recruitment firm a year prior but I did not list on my resume as again I was catering it for the position in which I was applying. However, I obviously know how recruitment firms should work) when I spoke with him he expressed he was in quite a hurry and that he had other appointments to attend that day (not exactly sure why he even answered the phone since he was clearly that busy) and proceeded to give me the business about how he is the owner of the firm, etc. He clearly did not bother to at least look up my information to review my resume and the actual position in which I was applying and started spouting off acronyms related to what he felt the position entailed (i.e. FDRs). It should also be noted that when I did go to the interview my research on FDRs was completely useless as it did ont relate to this role whatsoever. Ultimately, I couldn't get a word in edge wise with the CEO because he continually spoke over me and was somewhat argumentative. Therefore, I found him completely unprofessional. The CEO of the recruitment firm that I worked for never behaved like that and if they ever needed to follow up with my talent they always reviewed the resume and the position before calling. The talent did not need to call them. Meanwhile, my actual recruiter had followed-up with me via text and voicemail to make sure I was all set for the interview and to clear up any potential questions I might have beforehand like a recruiter should. Why the CEO, who clearly does not have time to speak to lower-level talent should be included in this process was beyond me but it was the second red flag. I left a text and voicemail response indicating my concern at his lack of professionalism but that I appreciated her follow-through and was prepared for the interview. I thought the interview went well and naturally expected my recruiter to then follow-up with feedback. No response for 3 days. Left her a another voicemail following-up, still no response. Waited about one week before calling again indicating I expected feedback regardless of whether or not I attained the position. Never heard back. Now I interview well and I got to that interview at least 20 minutes early, showed up in a suit, which in my area is not common dress for most interviews, and carried myself well. Not to mention I have recruitment experience, so I know how this process should go. Therefore, I would be sorely pressed to encourage anyone to waist their time with this recruitment firm. I thankfully have connections with other recruiters across the U.S. so not to worried about a burning a bridge but do want to warn any potential applicant that if you do consider applying for any position through this firm tread carefully. There are other more reputable long-term recruitment firms stationed in NY that service several states across the U.S. You will be saving yourself time and hassle by looking into them instead.
