I applied to Contentful for the Full Stack JavaScript Developer position.
1) Hangouts with the Recruiter, was a very nice and pleasure chat.
2) Hangouts with one of the Engineer Managers. There we discussed experiences, cultural fit and so on. To me was a very pleasured conversation, I'd say we both appreciated.
4) Live coding session in JS with the same Eng. Manager. He was very nice and it was a pretty nice live coding session, during the session I forgot some JS gotchas and the guy was very kind.
5) What supposed to be a "Pair Progaming Session" was basically myself coding to a monitor and two quite/mute developers. I was expecting a more iterative approach from them, one of them was very tough and not welcome.
I did one or two sily mistakes during the code, but in the end I managed to finish well in my point of view. I used higher order functions with dependency injection, was pretty nice I would say, taking into consideration you get very uncomfortable. However I did complete all the test.
After the challenge I spoke to one Team lead, it was again a very pleasured conversation, she was nice.
I went lunch with 3 other peeps from the team and after that I had one or two more other conversations, I don't remember exactly,
I left contentful at 15:30 and was there since 09:00
After some days I was notifed via email that I wasn't selected to the job, I asked for feedback via email and via the recruiter whats up and I was never replied back.
I enjoyed all the steps of the interview except the "Pair Progaming Session" with the guy in which apparently seemed to be rude
I am a polyglot engineer and used to work with JS for more than 4 years with either functional or imperative approach, in large code bases and distributed applications
