Applied on Angel. The description was enticing (build apps with AI!) and was extremely interested. Called for interview, interviewed directly by CEO, mostly questions about myself and my experiences and background. Was not taken aback by lack of educational background and instead encouraged me to elaborate on projects. Called CTO next, who asked about technical background and skillset. Walked me through a prospective stack/pipeline and asked which parts I understood/didn't. Informal offer, rest of process was easy and painless. Signed legal paperwork onsite a month later before starting. No salary but stipend.
Length: couple weeks, pretty fast as far as companies go.
Tips:
- be totally honest, also the CTO is technically knowledgeable so don't be afraid to go in-depth about what you used for your projects and why
- if you're on the fence about whether to join, don't be afraid to ask questions about the company; I had interviewed and gotten offers with a couple other companies beforehand but after listening to the CTO and CEO explain their concept it was clear they knew what they were doing, how they were doing it, and why they wanted to do it; ASK QUESTIONS--you won't regret it!
- I think there is another step in the process with team leaders now, they are all incredibly knowledgeable and down-to-earth people, be honest and give it to them straight!
