My experience interviewing at Credit Karma was noteworthy on so many levels. The most notable being that, across the board, every person I spoke with engaged in a conversational, empathetic, and curiosity-driven interview rather than the standard "Tell me about a time you...". There were no games being played, no trick questions, no moments where I wondered about the motives of what was being asked. I spoke to 8-9 people, and everyone's humanity, intelligence, and authenticity shone through.
Another truly notable moment of almost every interview was that I got real-time feedback from the interviewer. There was no mystery as to where they felt my strengths and weaknesses lay, and as to what they took away from me about the conversation. I've never experienced that kind of willingness to be open.
As for the interview process as a whole: I did a phone screen with a recruiter, a phone screen with a hiring manager, then came onsite for 3-4 hours of interviews. After that, there was a writing test, and second onsite.
