Events from Q4 2024.
* Contacted by retained recruiter about a leadership role within non-engineering group @Denso.
* Despite Denso's less-than-stellar rep in the local HR community, I agreed to a conversation with Denso recruiter and hiring leader.
* Denso recruiter conducted an 'interrogation', not 'conversation' on initial call - not a positive sign for the culture.
* Denso recruiter asked me to speak with hiring leader, and that they wanted to fill role for Jan start.
* Despite my concerns, I agreed to that conversation. Denso recruiter then went dark for 2 weeks, circled back and gave me 2 day/time options for hiring leader conversation
* As both options were not possible due to commitments in my current role, I provided 6 other day/time options for a call. The recruiter responded that hiring leader was very busy (uh, so are candidates] and if I wanted to proceed, I would have to make one of the 2 original options work. If not, they would consider me "inflexible" and not showing deep interest in Denso.
* I replied that they could remove me from consideration; recruiter replied that I would be noted as "unqualified for future consideration" based on my refusal to interview. Seriously.
* Based on my due diligence in Denso's marketplace via my network, this seemed to affirm the feedback that they are a company stuck in the past, claiming to be an innovative, progressive company but not behaving as such. I also hear from past employees there that career development is a problem and the reason for many to leave.
