Colloquio
I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn to interview for a Software Engineer position at this Sporting Goods Retailer. The full name of this retailer is getting flagged for bad language, so I am just referring to them as such. The recruiter had selected my resume and promoted it to the hiring manager. The hiring manager agreed to an interview. This was to be a contract to hire position. I interviewed with the hiring manager within a few days of the initial recruiter contact. They went over my resume and asked for examples of the work I performed. They were to send a take home test by the end of that week. Although the interview was very positive, there was no more communication from the company or from the recruiter.

Fantastic, they really took their time to get to know you and leave space to ask questions. It really felt like a back and forth interview. I was very impressived with the interviewer

Invited via an email to participate in coder pad test. Which seems really odd, no recruiter or anything. Just straight up testing Leetcode style questions. I respect their lack of recruiters reaching out and just straight up handing a qualification test. Keep it up guys you're doing great.

3 questions, 1 algorithms question, think basic data structures class you'd take but with the added benefit of leet code grinding. You'd probs be able to do this interview if you study that and some basic database questions involving set theory. Do I think this is a good way to interview candidates? No, it's just the secret handshake we all have to do to get a programming job. My advice to you is read the test link before opening it as it tells you what to study for the 90 minute testing you'll have to endure. I don't think this stuff is hard, nor do I think you should use an LLM service to do this, don't cheat yourself just because you might pass the interview. Actually do the work. No one else can make you a winner, you have to do it.
