The process started with a screening call by the recruiter who asked "rapid fire" questions. Immediately afterward I received a call that the hiring manager would like to talk to me via Zoom and if I was free later that same day and I was. The hiring manager asked more "rapid fire" questions and no follow-ups to my responses. I found most of the questions to be rather odd and irrelevant to the role. Early the next morning the recruiter said she would like to "talk" and offered some times. I knew already that I was being passed over because never in the history of mankind has a vague email ever meant "moving to the next round" (they always say something like, 'Congrats! You're moving on..') The recruiter, as expected, said I was not being selected... and then came the inevitable fun "kicker" of a reason, which in this case was "hasn't worked in a chaotic work environment" and I couldn't help but laugh out loud because that's ALL I've ever worked in! I stated to her that that "type of work environment" was never discussed at all with the hiring manager, and nothing is even eluded to in the job description about this requirement, so how on earth could that be the reason for not moving on. (Read: It's some other reason but they don't want to say what it is!). I think I may have dodge a bullet if Databricks really is that crazy-chaotic that this becomes a requirement and a reason to reject candidates.
