Wow, I can honestly say I had the worst interview experience in my entire professional career at Datadog. I went through the entire interview process (recruiter, hiring screen, take home, panel), and there were red flags starting the second stage. The recruiter was very friendly and kind, and attentive to responding to emails. That was the only part of the interview that was a positive experience. The rest of my interviews were all conducted by men. As a woman, I understand that there are more men in this industry than women, and it's not uncommon that I go through entire interviews not interacting with a single woman. However, the interviews at Datadog were AWFUL. The bro culture is strong. Everyone who interviewed me seemed really negative and unhappy, and showed zero empathy or human-ness to them. I had stone faces staring at my in my panel, with some of them zoning out and not paying attention. The questions asked were things you can find answers to on the internet. Not much was asked around my experience, but rather a long string of trivia. Biggest red flag for me though was their "yes" culture. They say yes to everything, even without considering the viability of the proposal and take a "we'll deal with it later" approach. No wonder generally morale seemed low. When asked about the lack of women, they informed me that there are indeed women on the team... all at the lowest level possible compared to men on the team. No women leadership for the most part. This company seems like a great place to be if you are looking to join a boys club and hang with the bros.
